O. Rivera | Wire Sculptures
Mexican Artist

A fine craft artist and sculptor originally from Durango, he expresses a profound love for life and nature through an experimental, risk-taking creative journey that consistently embraces untraditional materials. His portfolio is defined by extravagant canvas compositions and complex audiovisual works, each pouring over with boundless imagination and originality.

As a master craftsman, he has delved deeply into custom jewelry making and traditional Mexican cartonería (sculptural paper-mâché), seamlessly fusing these foundational experiences with his extensive knowledge of painting and fine sculpture.

Through this multidisciplinary fusion, he has developed a highly original artistic signature: medium-format sculptures crafted through an innovative technique he calls "Artistic Wiring." Over nearly a decade of practicing this captivating method, Otón utilizes his surreal mind and prodigious hands to breathe life into fantastic animals, chimeras, insects, performers, and impossible objects.

Literally drawing in three dimensions with wire, he transforms an otherwise industrial, rigid medium into delicate dreams and delirious fantasies, creating entirely unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Each sculpture represents the honest passion and captivating vision of an artist who never ceases to amaze.
