Biography
Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico (1982), Marina López Pallares is an active, highly prolific contemporary painter and master printmaker with an uninterrupted professional trajectory spanning over two decades. Her profound devotion to creative expression began at the age of 11, when she initiated her formal training in the Visual and Plastic Arts at various prestigious institutions, including the Instituto Cultural Cabañas and the José Clemente Orozco Center for Art Education under the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA). She later solidified her rigorous academic background by earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad de Guadalajara.

Pallares achieved her first major professional milestone at the age of 19, when she began actively showcasing her work in selective solo and collective exhibitions. Her exceptional draftsmanship and rapid emergence earned her a prominent feature in the definitive 2005 encyclopedic publication, "Jaliscan Painting in the 20th Century".

Today, her fine art has secured an outstanding international footprint. Her original works are held in prestigious permanent museum collections worldwide, including the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago (USA), the National Museum of Tequila (Munat), and the Alfonso Michel University Art Gallery. Committed to community building and passing down classical printmaking techniques, she also founded the Taller Viajantes, an open studio space dedicated to teaching engraving processes and nurturing emerging artistic talents.

Artistic Process, Mediums & Style
The core of Pallares’ artistic language is a sophisticated, deeply poetic navigation through Surrealism and Magic Realism. Her work consistently revolves around two intertwined thematic pillars: the untamed beauty of nature and the symbolic mysteries of animals, which have served as her main lifelines of inspiration since childhood.

Refusing to adhere to rigid commercial constraints, Pallares demands absolute creative freedom, treating each piece as an unrepeatable risk. To avoid repetition, she fluidly jumps between diverse pictorial and graphic techniques depending on the conceptual needs of her project:

Works on Canvas: She commands rich, highly detailed oil painting techniques that create vibrant, multi-layered dreamscapes focused on nature and dreaming.
Works on Paper: She is a revered master of fine graphic prints, developing a meticulous portfolio of high-contrast linocuts, watercolors, graphite drawings, and precise metal and etching engraving techniques.
