Born in Havana, Cuba, Becerra is an acclaimed contemporary sculptor, plastic artist, and creative mentor currently based in the Mexican Caribbean. Since childhood, he felt an innate urgency to experiment with volumetric forms, working early on with wood, metal, clay, and mechanical systems. Although he initially considered studying architecture due to societal conventions, his absolute calling was fine art.

Becerra first traveled to Mexico in 2015. His breakthrough came in Mérida, Yucatán, where he presented a highly successful solo exhibition during the prestigious Noche Blanca festival and was awarded an international artistic creation grant. Nourished by rich collaborations with global creators, he later relocated to Playa del Carmen, where he has spent several years deeply rooted in the coastal art scene. Today, his dynamic sculptures inhabit prominent private collections and public gallery spaces internationally.

Artistic Process, Mediums & Evolution
Becerra’s multidisciplinary language translates human emotion into permanent physical matter. His technical repertoire spans from monumental public landmarks to highly intimate, small-format object sculptures. A signature facet of his practice involves conceptual deconstruction: he appropriates everyday objects, stripping away their primary functional identities to reformulate them into entirely new visual metaphors with independent aesthetic purposes.

Deeply inspired by the raw, untamed forces of the Riviera Maya, Becerra frequently sculpts with local natural stone, cement, gesso, fiberglass, and polychrome resins. Through his proprietary "Living Sculpture" (Escultura Viva) methodology, he meticulously models expressive clay reliefs, figurative portraiture, and organic abstractions that challenge the boundary between rigid material and fluid human presence.

With over two decades of professional experience as an art professor and sculptor, Becerra treats the creative studio as a fearless vessel for psychological release. For him, sculpture is not merely about shaping a figure, but rather about learning to translate raw, visceral life experiences into three-dimensional lines, textures, and silhouettes that communicate an undeniable poetic presence.
